Hi all -

On Sunday I upgraded from v11 to v20. I understand there's another upgrade now available.

However I am concerned that several new problems were introduced to my phone possibly as a result of the upgrade. Anyone else have similar experiences? These are just a few of the issues I've encountered:

1/ applications don't launch properly - in at least 2 instances (Media Player and SW Updater) when I select them from the menu, the screen changes as if to load the application, then reverts to the menu screen without letting me access the application at all

2/ Connectivity > Destinations - when I attempt to access this I get a System Error message that disappears after a second or two

3/ I cannot seem to instruct the phone to use the available connection for web or email - I should have home WLAN, work WLAN and 3g (through Three)

4/ On loading Maps, it tells me I have to select an Internet connection, however when I attempt to do so I get an "internet usage disabled" message (although I can still access the web through my 3g connection!)

5/ My photos application doesn't seem to read the large collection of photos on my E drive

6/ when I attempt to open the video application I get "Unexpected error occurred. Restart phone"

While I did have problems before I did the upgrade (which led me to upgrading in the first place) I don't think they were nearly as severe. I could still access email and media, for example.

Anyone else had similar issue? Any idea on what's happening? Not sure if this its something I can fix through hard reset / formatting / flash upgrade, or if there's a fundamental problem with the phone and I need to return it.

Post FW Update I always manually uninstall all apps. Format my E: drive (after backing up anything I want to keep) and hard reset the phone (after backing up). The problem with FW updates is that they change the OS which can mess things up a little. Doing the E: format and Hard Reset gives you a clean phone with the new FW on.

Great! Very helpful. I've now done (what I think is) a complete hard reset / format. I did that 3 times and then reinstalled the most recent FW which, for me, seems to be v20.

Mbrett I don't know if you can do so as a Moderator, but it feels like the steps for doing a successful full format & hard reset before/during a software update should be posted in the "Software" and "It's Broke" sections of these forums as a Sticky (Or Spotlight as it seems to be called) thread.

Just a thought as a lot of issues are resolved that way...

hello i have a n97 on v20 and today i upgraded it through pc suite to v21. and it was succesful but when my phone turned off, it never turned back on since.

when i press the power button it vibrates but the screen stays black and nothing happens. the battry is fully charged. can anybody please help me on how to fix this error.
