Not exactly broken, but still annoyed that the one thing that is there on the N97 to protect the Camera lens, actually scratches it.

Hey Micky, is that a scratch or a scuff? You tried wiping it with an alcohol solution or something?

I wonder what part of the cover is doing it. The underside appears to be a soft blue sponge.

I can tell you that it can and does scratch the lens, apparently when foreign matter (I would guess sand)gets under it and you press to slide it. I have not had this problem, but I have seen pictures where it is 20 times worse than that.

The problem lpie (one of the Mods), was having with his camera ends up, was most likely being produced by the beginning scratches like those, now they are bad.

This is what I do and actually have always done with sliding lens covers, I place my thumb on the very bottom edge and apply a slight pressure to it and then slide the cover down. This way if there is debris under the cover this slightly raises the top side so that it doesn't have the pressure on it, like it does when you place your finger in the middle of the cover.

And yes Mickey, I do not blame you I would be upset also, I was upset so much when I bought my N95 (because it didn't have a cover) that I called Nokia like once a day for two or three weeks, about them putting out their top of the line phone without a lens cover.

jeff, You know I thought that exact same thing when I saw this. But, I mean who puts out a 500-600 dollar phone without a lens cover, cause when the N-95 first came out this was also the price of it.

Yes I will take the blame for the lens cover, but not the debris that caused the damage. Either way that sucks!!
