Raviteq ImageStudio

Having played with Image Studio 1.0 for S60 5th Edition, developed by Raviteq, for a while now I can honestly say it's worth it's £4 price tag on OVI Store.

When you open the app you are greeted by the following screen. You will notice that the app only works in landscape orientation. The one down side is that it only diplays images in the "Captured" folder in the default "Photo" browser on the Nokia N97. A few moments with the app and you realise this is NOT an Image Browser app as there is no option to change the size of the displayed image size on the application home screen.

ImageStudio Open

When you select the image you want to play with the true scope of ImageStudio's capabilities as soon reveiled. Obviously you can Crop (see image below) and Cut & Paste.

The features are as follows (From left to right in the bottom toolbar):

ImageStudio FilterApplied

  • Filters
    • Emboss
    • Grey Scale
    • Milky
    • Negative
    • Sepia

ImageStudio ClipartMenu

  • Clipart
    • Too many to list (50-off)

ImageStudio Clipart

  • Rotate & Flip
    • 90° Clockwise
    • 180°
    • 90° Counter-Clockwise
    • Vertical
    • Horizontal

ImageStudio Frame

  • Frames

    • Too many to list (10-off)
  • Enhancements
    • Brightness
    • Contrast
    • Sharpness
    • White Balance

ImageStudio Crop

  • Crop
    • Manual
    • Wallpaper
    • 4:3
    • 16:9
  • Re-Size
  • Insert Text

Then there's the "Options

" menu with the ability to:

  • Zoom
    • Zoom Step in
    • Zoom Step out
    • Zoom fit
  • Send As
  • Use As
    • Wallpaper
    • Contact
  • Help
  • About
  • Exit

My Conclusions

Although a number of the features held within ImageStudio are already available within the default "Photo" app on the N97, ImageStudio adds many usefull additions that make tweaking your images on your phone that much easier. As I said at the beginning of this review, well worth the £4 price tag for all those that wain for the ability to do that little bit more with their captured images

Hopefully the next version will add a browser and Nokia will permit the user to pick the default browsers as intimated in the N97 firmware.
