Nokia N97 drop test

As promised here are the Nokia N97 drop tests. We originally filmed these N97 stress tests yesterday evening but due to low light, they didn't come out too great and so we decided to do them again this morning. Bear in mind all of these drop tests have been done x 2, plus a couple of retakes.

In this video you'll see Kenny dropping the Nokia N97 on grass, gravel and concrete from both waist and head height. In everyday life, it's unlikely you're ever going to drop your handset from anywhere above waist height and hopefully not at all, but we wanted to push the N97 a little further just to see how it holds up.

Overall the Nokia N97 has held up brilliantly in our opinion. I was expecting the screen to crack when dropped on concrete from head height but fortunately it didn't. Most of the damage is superficial, a couple of scratches and scuffs. The only damage that's been done that may effect the performance of the phone is a hairline crack in the camera lense, which happened during the head height drop on to concrete

We're going to take some macro pictures later on, to give you a better idea of the extent of damage done during the tests. We'll also take a couple of shots using the N97 itself, to see whether the camera quality has been jepodised.

Keep checking back for more tests and please keep the ideas coming in.

I must admit - I was holding my breath when I was dropping the phone from head height on the pavement. To see it shatter into peices was harsh ^^ That was the 2nd time we did it tho and it still turned on. A testiment to the build quality.

I did not see you have this so I will ask for the second time. Guys please do it on iphone. Do all tests. In same order. I bet it won't last till drop test. Man seriously, nice tests. Would never do this to mine but I feel a bit more confident now. At least the body will stay smilies/smiley.gif. After my soft blows up. They really need that couple dozen updates + promised N-gage.

PS After you are done with Body tests you should do some software ones. Should be much easier.smilies/smiley.gif

Great videos!

Just wanted to mention one thing.

You didn't notice in your video, but the back cover came slightly loose after the hip-height drop test on pavement. You did not snap it back on firmly, you can see this just after 3.20 on the video. Perhaps this is why the back cover came off completely after the final drop.

A very robust phone though!

...to be this sure that my new N97 will stand my every day roughness =P

Saw some other stress tests on youtube too, harsh scrubbing with keys, coins and all sort of stuff..

Damn what a good build quality.. at last.

Warning!!!!! I dropped my N97 and it broke....badl!!!!
I had my N97 a moth last Monday. So it only seemed fair I suppose that I broke it.

Don't get me wrong the build quality is awesome, but........

From waist height I dropped it 2 feet directly onto a wooden stool (a relatively hard and flat surface). It made contact directly with the screen.

This caused, i currently believe, the LCD screen to crack and therefore the screen to break completely. I know this as there was large black and white lines across the sceen.

Its currently being fixed at a cost of 80 GBP.

Basically don't take the build quality for granted on these things. The screen is very sensitive. This was nothing more than the sort of "phone-drop" most phones go through once a week.

UGG Bailey Button or not listing, the sale of those Ugg Classic Cardy shoes were broken from the factory out of a small amount of code of Ugg Boots Classic Mini shoes, if the yardage is complete, it is UGG Classic Tall, it is impossible to thing. See vamps, really UGG very bright and clean, car line is 9 per inch needle, uggs boots on sale margin is uniform, line moderately elastic, there will be no floating lines, break, jump pin. UGG Ultra Short shoe feel very good, but there is no rupture, breakage. There are many products on our shop for sale, and some now in discount, very cheap.Welcome to purchase!
