hey everybody i was just wondering on the white n97 if in sunlight and the backlight is on..do the letters on the qwerty keyboard show or would it look like a blank keyboard?? i really need an answer bcuz this might influence wether i gt the white 1 or the black 1...im gettin mine in a week so i really need 2 know...thx

if its in direct sunlight the backlight will usually turn off the keys lights, so the keys will be black so will be readable.

Yes, this problem has occurred in many products, including the Apple laptops that have keyboard illumination.

Because the key's background isn't dark, there are certain lighting conditions that would make the letters totally disappear as the illumination washes out with the key's white color.

Jeffmasson, remember, the keys will light up white since we don't have black light. So as you can imagine, white on white means can't see.

That was one of the reasons why I didn't buy the white model.

when the keys ligth on I can see them, the whole key except for the letter will kind of dark out with the backlight, still readable
