Yes you can add the music player to your homescreen. Do this by selection options > edit content > options > add content > music player.

Goto music library now appears on your homescreen. To open the music player, simply tap the goto music library and select the items you wish to listen too.

The music player control keys, and, if available, the title of the song, artist, and album art are displayed when a song is played.
